Remote video monitoring across Georgia
Georgia's Interstate 75, I-85, I-16 and I-20 cross at Atlanta and Macon, and the Port of Savannah's Garden City Terminal, the largest container terminal in North America, helped the Georgia Ports Authority move nearly 5.7 million containers in fiscal year 2025, its second-busiest year on record. Verisk CargoNet's Thanksgiving holiday advisory ranked Georgia fifth among states for cargo theft incidents during its analysis period, with 11 recorded incidents, and a former Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent who now heads the Georgia Cargo Theft Intelligence Group said the Savannah area alone saw 10 to 12 cargo theft cases in a two-month stretch in early 2024. Vehicle theft moved the other way: Georgia's total fell nearly 28 percent in 2025, from about 23,900 to 17,200, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, though Atlanta-area counties still logged the state's highest numbers.
