Local and live
Freight where I-75, I-94 and I-96 meet the border
Detroit sits where I-75, I-94 and I-96 converge; I-96 ends its 192-mile run from Muskegon at I-75 near the Ambassador Bridge, a crossing that for decades carried more than a quarter of all US-Canada merchandise trade by value and still handled 2.3 million trucks in 2024. The newer Gordie Howe International Bridge, which opened nearby in 2026, links I-75 directly to Highway 401 in Ontario. In Southwest Detroit, new truck routes took effect in October 2025 to keep rigs on Fort, Michigan Avenue, Dix and the I-75 service drive instead of neighbourhood streets, after the area's intermodal freight terminal was processing close to 2,000 trucks a day through its Federal Street entrance.
That much freight moving through one corridor draws thieves. Michigan lawmakers passed bills in March 2026 adding up to 10 years in prison for cargo theft after Wayne County and Detroit saw a rise in thefts from rail cars and storage facilities tied to organized crime. The risk reaches ordinary yards too: in the early hours of May 2, 2025, thieves cut through a gate lock with a grinding tool in about seven minutes and drove off with two trailers from a steel-processing yard on the city's west side, one of them loaded with camping gear.
Sigma's agents watch every camera on a Detroit yard at once, day and night, 365 days a year. AI person and vehicle detection flags anyone near the fence line or gate after hours, an agent verifies it on live video, gives a live, instant talk-down through the site's speakers and escalates to police and your contacts. At the gate, agents check each driver against your pickup lists before letting them in, and every entry and exit is logged.

FAQ
Detroit monitoring questions
Can you watch a yard near the Ambassador Bridge or in Southwest Detroit overnight?
Yes. Live agents keep watch day and night, 365 days a year. AI person and vehicle detection flags anyone near the fence line, an agent verifies it on live video, gives a live, instant talk-down through the site's speakers and escalates to police and your contacts.
Can agents handle drivers arriving at a Detroit-area yard?
Yes, with Gate Operations. When a driver pulls up, an agent sees them on camera, speaks to them through the gate speakers and checks them against your rules, schedules or pickup lists before opening the gate remotely. The time and an image of every entry and exit go into your log automatically.
Sigma is based in Ontario. How would a Detroit site get set up?
Monitoring is remote and works anywhere with an internet connection, so the distance isn't an issue. Sigma's technicians handle the installation on site, and many existing cameras that are compatible can be tied in. Power, internet and the gate come from the site.
How do I get started?
Request a free site assessment or call (209) 900-5884 ext 2. A Sigma specialist reviews your layout, existing cameras and risks, then recommends the right coverage, at no cost and with no obligation. Every quote costs less than a 24/7 guard.
