Warehouse and yard security in Pickering
Sigma's live agents watch Pickering warehouses, container yards and construction sites around the clock, from the 401 to Seaton, and act on intrusions as they happen.
Local and live
Between the 401 and the Seaton lands
Pickering's freight uses two parallel corridors: Highway 401 near the south end of the city and Highway 407 through its middle. Seaton, a planned community of more than 7,000 acres, is meant to hold up to 35,000 jobs when built out, most of them in an Innovation Corridor along Highways 7 and 407, which has full interchanges at Brock Road and Whites Road. Invest Pickering points to a one-million-square-foot retail distribution facility in the city that supplies more than 1,200 stores across Eastern Canada.
Thieves have taken their time at Pickering sites. In September 2025, suspects entered a warehouse on Feldspar Court at about 1:50 a.m. on a Sunday, came back mid-morning and stayed until about noon, leaving with tools, equipment and copper wiring worth more than $145,000. In May 2026, several sea containers on an industrial property near 7th Concession Road and Sideline 14 were forced open on two separate weekends and construction equipment and supplies were taken. Durham police's West Division, which covers Pickering and Ajax, recorded 507 vehicle thefts in 2025.
Hours of unchecked access are what live monitoring is meant to stop. At a Pickering warehouse or container yard, AI person and vehicle detection flags a night-time entry, and an agent watching live challenges the intruders through the site's speakers and calls Durham police while they are still on the property. Agents keep watching through weekends and holidays, and video clips and a written report follow every incident.
On the record: Suspects broke into a warehouse on Feldspar Court in Pickering at about 1:50 a.m. on September 21, 2025, returned at 10:25 a.m. and left around 12:05 p.m., taking tools, equipment and copper wiring valued at more than $145,000. FAQ
Pickering monitoring questions
We're building in Seaton's Innovation Corridor near Highway 407. Can you watch the site?
Yes, once there's power and an internet connection on site. Cameras and speakers go up around materials, equipment and site trailers, AI detection flags anyone who enters after hours, and an agent responds live with a talk-down and calls police when needed.
Our Pickering warehouse ships on Sundays when the office is closed. Can agents run the gate?
Yes. With Gate Operations, an agent sees each carrier arrive, talks with the driver through the gate speakers, checks ID against your schedule or pickup list and opens the gate remotely. Each entry and exit is logged with a time and an image.
