Job site and yard security in St. Thomas

St. Thomas is building one of Canada's largest EV battery plants, and construction and trucking around it are growing fast. Sigma's live agents watch job sites, truck yards and warehouses here 24/7/365.

Local and live

Around the PowerCo site and the Highway 3 corridor

Volkswagen's PowerCo gigafactory in St. Thomas covers a 350-acre site and is expected to be Canada's largest EV battery plant, with up to 3,000 workers once production starts in 2027. The province is widening nearly 7 kilometres of Highway 3 to four lanes from Centennial Avenue west, with a bypass connecting to Highway 4 and north to Highway 401, and an 18-kilometre, 230-kilovolt power line is being built to supply the plant. Suppliers, contractors and carriers are moving into the area around that build-out.

That construction activity has already drawn thieves. St. Thomas Police reported that equipment valued at about $200,000 was stolen from a site connected to the PowerCo project, and in August 2026 a tractor and equipment trailer were taken overnight from a business on Silver Street. Tools, machinery and trailers staged for a job during a build this size are an ongoing target.

Sigma covers a St. Thomas job site or yard through every stage of a build. AI person and vehicle detection flags anyone on site after the crew leaves, and a live agent checks the camera, gives a live, instant talk-down through the site's speakers and calls St. Thomas Police if the person doesn't leave. Once a site is operating, the same cameras and speakers support Gate Operations and yard checks for trucks and trailers coming and going.

FAQ

St. Thomas monitoring questions

We're a contractor working near the PowerCo site. Can you watch tools and equipment overnight?

Yes, once the site has power and an internet connection, which the site provides. Sigma's technicians install cameras and speakers, AI person and vehicle detection flags anyone on site after hours, and an agent gives a live, instant talk-down and calls St. Thomas Police if needed.

Can agents handle carrier pickups at a St. Thomas warehouse gate?

Yes, with Gate Operations. Drivers are checked on arrival: the agent speaks to them through the gate speakers, matches them to your pickup list and opens the gate remotely. A time-stamped log keeps every entry and exit.

Does Sigma have an office in St. Thomas?

No. Monitoring is done remotely by live agents, and Sigma's technicians travel to the site to install the cameras and speakers, or connect many compatible cameras you already have. The power, internet connection and gate come from your site.
