Remote security for Toronto's industrial yards, from Etobicoke to Scarborough
Toronto's freight work happens in its employment areas along Highways 427, 400 and 401. Sigma's live agents watch truck yards, warehouses and industrial lots there 24/7 and talk intruders down live.
Local and live
Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough
The City of Toronto's 2025 Employment Survey counts 23 Areas of Employment holding 412,100 jobs. The five largest, Rexdale-Airport, South Etobicoke, Downsview, Highway 400 and Tapscott, account for 190,070 of them, and manufacturing remains the biggest source of jobs in these areas, with 76,450. On the map, that means Rexdale and the lands along Highway 427 by Toronto Pearson, Downsview and the Highway 400 corridor in North York, and Tapscott in northeast Scarborough.
Scarborough also carries rail freight: CPKC's Toronto Yard covers 432 acres in Agincourt, between Sheppard Avenue and Finch Avenue, and Highway 401 crosses the borough on its way through the city. Cargo crime follows the freight. Équité Association estimates that thefts of trucks, trailers and cargo loads totalled over $531 million from 2019 to 2023, and Truck News reports that Peel Region and the Greater Toronto Area continue to account for a significant share of incidents.
Sigma's agents watch Toronto yards live, 24/7, 365 days a year. AI person and vehicle detection picks up people and vehicles on the property after hours; the agent checks the camera, talks the intruder down through the site's speakers and calls police if they stay. During business hours, agents can run your gate remotely and speak with arriving drivers, and yard checks log parking, damage and visual seal checks on video.

FAQ
Toronto monitoring questions
Do you cover Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough?
Yes. Sigma monitors yards and facilities across Toronto, including Rexdale and South Etobicoke, Downsview and the Highway 400 corridor, and Scarborough. Sigma is based in Acton, Ontario; technicians install cameras and speakers at your site, and agents watch it remotely.
Our lot is small and right on the street. Can you still help?
Yes. Cameras are placed to suit your lot, AI person and vehicle detection flags activity for a live agent, and the agent can talk to anyone on the property through the site's speakers. You provide power and internet; Sigma doesn't put guards on site.
How does the cost compare with a guard?
Every quote costs less than a 24/7 guard, nights, weekends and holidays included. Tell us about your site and we'll put a quote together.
