Remote yard and warehouse security in Los Angeles

Los Angeles freight moves through the East Los Angeles Interchange, the Port of Los Angeles and warehouse districts from the San Fernando Valley to South LA. Sigma's live agents watch the yards and warehouses along those routes around the clock and give a live, instant talk-down to anyone who shouldn't be there.

Local and live

Freight at the East Los Angeles Interchange

Four freeways converge at the East Los Angeles Interchange, where Interstate 5, Interstate 10, US-101 and State Route 60 shift alignments across 135 acres built in the early 1960s; the southern leg alone carried more than 550,000 vehicles a day in a 2008 count. The Port of Los Angeles, at the other end of the city's freight network, moved 10.2 million containers in 2025 and took a 17 percent share of all US containerized trade across its 7,500 acres, 25 cargo terminals and 85 ship-to-shore cranes. In between, the San Fernando Valley's industrial strip keeps building: 865,098 square feet of warehouse space was under construction there in the third quarter of 2026, with vacancy at just 5.4 percent and Sylmar the site of a 440,000-square-foot building going up on Roxford Street.

That much freight moving through one city gives thieves plenty of targets. In April 2026, LAPD's Commercial Crimes Division Cargo Theft Task Force, working with Union Pacific and BNSF railroad police and Los Angeles World Airports police, served warrants that recovered more than 55 pallets of stolen merchandise, worth about $1 million, from a Van Nuys warehouse on Stagg Street. California logged 1,218 cargo theft incidents in 2025, more than any other state, even though Los Angeles County's count fell 11 percent as thieves moved activity elsewhere. For a warehouse or yard operator, that still means loaded trailers, idle tractors and pallets stacked near a dock door are a target any night of the week.

Sigma covers Los Angeles sites remotely, whatever corner of the city they're in. Live agents are on every camera 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and AI person and vehicle detection calls their attention to anyone moving through a yard, a dock or a fence line after the last shift leaves. Once flagged, an agent checks the live video, gives a live, instant talk-down through the site's speakers and escalates to police and your contacts, with video clips and a written report following. Gate Operations and Yard Operations add remote entry checks, trailer damage inspections and visual seal checks on video for sites that need them.

FAQ

Los Angeles monitoring questions

Do you cover warehouses near the East Los Angeles Interchange?

Yes. Monitoring is remote, so a site near the interchange, in the San Fernando Valley or anywhere else in the city is covered the same way: live agents on every camera, AI person and vehicle detection, and a live, instant talk-down for anyone who shouldn't be there.

Can agents run the gate at our distribution yard?

Yes, with Gate Operations. Agents see each driver arrive on camera, speak to them through the gate speakers, check them against your rules, schedules or pickup lists and open the gate remotely. Every entry and exit is logged.

Los Angeles has thousands of warehouses. How does Sigma fit ours?

The same way everywhere else: Sigma's technicians come to your site to install the cameras and speakers, or connect many compatible cameras you already have, and agents then watch from a distance. Your site keeps its own power, internet connection and gate.

How do I get started?
