Remote truck yard monitoring in Surrey

Live agents watch Surrey trailer lots, truck yards and distribution warehouses through the night, from Campbell Heights and Cloverdale to the Fraser River docks in Bridgeview.

Local and live

From the Pacific Highway crossing to the Fraser River docks

Surrey sits on the Canada-US border south of the Fraser River, and since the 1970s commercial vehicles travelling directly between Blaine, Washington, and Surrey have had to use the Pacific Highway crossing, where Highway 15 meets Washington State Route 543. It is one of the five busiest commercial crossings on the border. The 44-kilometre South Fraser Perimeter Road (Highway 17), built to move goods and take trucks off municipal roads, runs from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal through Delta to its junction with Highways 1 and 15 in Surrey, and CN's Vancouver intermodal terminal, on 104 Avenue in Surrey, is open 24 hours a day. Invest Surrey names Campbell Heights, Cloverdale and the Fraser Surrey Docks in Bridgeview among the city's logistics hubs.

Trailers themselves are a target here. In February 2026 the Surrey Police Service announced charges after a 15-month investigation into the theft of 14 semi-trailers, worth more than $1 million together, from a semi-trailer dealer in Surrey; the case reached into Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Calgary. In an earlier case, in March 2020, security footage showed a thief hook a trailer carrying a container of more than 2,700 pieces of lumber, worth about $60,000, to a semi-truck cab and drive it off a property on Timberland Road. For a yard owner, that means loaded trailers, stored containers and equipment parked along the fence after hours.

Sigma puts live agents on every camera at a Surrey yard, around the clock, every day of the year. When AI detection picks up a person or vehicle after hours, an agent confirms it on video and speaks to the intruder through the yard's speakers right away, then calls police and your contacts with clips and a written report. When trucks come and go, Gate Operations has agents greet each arrival through the gate speakers, check the driver against your pickup lists and open the gate remotely, logging every entry and exit.

On the record: The Surrey Police Service charged a man in February 2026 after 14 semi-trailers, worth more than $1 million together, were stolen from a semi-trailer dealer in Surrey. The investigation began in December 2024 and spanned Surrey, Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Calgary. FAQ

Surrey monitoring questions

Can you watch a trailer lot near the Pacific Highway truck crossing overnight?

Yes. An agent watches the lot's cameras live through the night, on weekends and on holidays. AI detection flags any person or vehicle that moves, the agent checks the live video and talks the person down through the site's speakers, and police and your contacts are called, with video clips and a written report to follow.

Can Sigma run our gate when drivers pick up trailers at night?

Yes. With Gate Operations, the agent sees the truck arrive, speaks to the driver through the gate speakers and checks their ID against your rules, schedules or pickup lists before opening the gate remotely. Each entry and exit goes into a log you can review.

Sigma is based in Acton, Ontario. What does setup look like for a Surrey yard?

The monitoring itself happens remotely, so the distance doesn't matter. Sigma's technicians travel to your Surrey site to install the cameras and speakers, and many compatible cameras you already own can be connected too. You supply the power, the internet connection and the gate.
